Working Committee, Auroville Council, Land Board & Working Groups have Aurovilians with vested interests hence by manipulating policies and ‘undue liaison’ with Government offices, they keep the Resident Assembly and the public at large in the dark.
The Auroville administration believes in some kind of autonomy to be above law and twist this to ensure that crimes are never reported and/or are given wrong information. Hence no cases of Auroville have been solved so far. The state police are also discouraged from taking complaints against Aurovilians, although now it seems to be changing.
a) If a person’s head is broken by a Working Committee Member’s friend, the victim is declared a pedophile to discourage him from complaining.
b) If a person is beaten up, the Auroville Council asks the victim to withdraw the complaint and is discouraged or rumours are spread about the victim including community members saying the person deserved it!
c) If a person revealed corruption, he/she is shamed and is removed from the job.
d) Other people who have sent RTIs were shamed and rumors of the motives are spread.
e) Divisional, Racial Politics, and divide and rule are played to ensure the victim looks like the aggressor if he/ she goes to the law.
f) If a person complains about the functioning of Auroville vexatious sexual harassment cases are levied.
g) If all else fails, the new Exit policy of getting 30 signatures to remove anyone from Auroville is enough.
Then they say “If you do not have faith in our system then please leave Auroville”.
Firstly, non-compoundable offenses cannot be handled by the internal complaints committee, secondly, the complaint has to be registered within 2-3 days of the incident as per law, thirdly, there is no timeframe for resolution for the internal complaints committee.
The timeframe for such resolutions should be 15 days, the legal cell of Auroville should not interfere nor liaison with police and/or between the complainant and accused. Complaints on Auroville Administrative members should directly go to the investigative authorities.
What the Auroville administration dearly wants to retain is the autonomy wish to control their power and nexus to conduct human right violations. A façade of goodness doesn't cover the overflowing skeletons under the closet.

"Arrest of an Aurovilian: An Aurovilian has been arrested for violence against another Auroville resident, after that resident filed a complaint with the police. This was done in spite of a watchman being organized by a member of the Council and the first Aurovilian being moved away from the community in which the incident took place, where both were living. We are disappointed by this action and by the fact that other Auroville residents actively encouraged and supported the involvement and intervention by the police, especially after measures had been taken to address the situation internally and ensure the safety of all. The arrested Aurovilian has now been released on bail."
