Income Tax asks for Recovery of Taxes | CBI, IT, ED Enquiry Necessary | Aurovilians report
In our efforts to get ill-gained wealth back to the community of Auroville below is the Waking Call given by Aurovilians.
Income tax asks for recovery of INR 14.5 crores and the Auroville Foundation has appealed against the same and according to sources deposited INR 32 odd lkhs as penalty for the appeal to be admitted
100% of income has to come back to the community, not just 67% as per The Mother's Vision of Auroville and what about all the wealth since 35 years ?
The internal audit is inadequate as stated by the CAG time and again. What is the exact income generated by Auroville commercial units ? Stock balances, input and output stock, bills, GST etc have been avoided under the name of autonomy for decades purposely to hide their wealth through Auroville. How does the community of Auroville know what is the exact turnover and profit ?

Dear Community,
Consider the following. Ask yourself if this is the Auroville you came here for. Please wake up.
1. Please read the attached meeting minutes of the International Zone's meeting on Jan 20th. Pay specific attention to the list titled "Unwanted Residents" with only Indian names in it. "Unwanted" and to be segregated in the Mother's Auroville, like during apartheid in South Africa. Please wake up.
2. The Income Tax department has asked Auroville to pay 14.5 Crores in taxes, which means there is about 95+ Crores stashed and saved as profits in the Mother's Auroville. This amount, if we assume that those units dutifully gave 33% to Auroville, would be 67% of their profit. So, the total profit in these units would be nearly 150 Crores. But, we have scarcity for funds, that is being managed by some in the FAMC whose units' profits are under questioning by tax authorities. This is the Mother's Auroville today. Please wake up.
3. The Working Committee finally agreed to report a crime to the police, after acting as the judge on whether someone was remorseful enough. No, the Working Committee is not allowed by law to decide, on its own, when to report or not report a crime in Auroville. The Residents' Assembly has to decide what the policy should be on reporting a crime. That is why 93 residents gave the attached petition in June 2019 asking RAS to convene the RA to discuss a policy. It is 9 months, and not a single meeting has been organized. But, we have all the time for yet another theatre called the selection process happening this weekend. Please wake up.
We do not degrade ourselves by openly saying the Truth. We degrade ourselves when we violate the laws of this country that need a CBI/tax investigation or when we act in ways incompatible with the ideals that the Mother outlined for Auroville. Don't get swayed by arguments that you cannot openly criticize working groups or individuals who are dragging the Mother's Auroville in the wrong direction. If you do not speak up, people from outside will.
We cannot be under denial forever. Please wake up.
