After the Enquiry Committee Report in 2019, the protests and two groups in Auroville which are trying to take over the administration, let us look at how this seems to be The Dream Hijacked Part 2:
While people narrow all down to the left and right lobby fights, ie. Foreigner vs Indians, Congress vs BJP etc, let us look at what binds both lobbies together under the facade of “human unity”. The Dream was Hijacked by Colonialists with the help of Indian sepoys, and now some of the Indian sepoys are managing Working Committee & FAMC under the Auroville Foundation.
People with vested interests and a history of economic offences including soliciting foreign donations for land investment are in the Working Groups. The proposal for NTDA was withdrawn since it benefits all of Aurovilian’s benami properties. After the economic scams of many came to light, the people in the FAMC said that we shall not name or shame them, in a bid to cover up their corruption as well. It is also known that the Working Committee seems to share responsibility with the Auroville Foundation in replying to RTIs, and one of the crucial RTI on international economic nexus, NTDA and Annual reports have not been answered for over 4 months. The human unity propaganda by the Auroville media houses is but a facade to what is happening behind the scenes.
The reason that Auroville has 43 Auroville International representations, 37 trusts, many shell trusts, and private limited companies, with no direct CAG, Works audit, GFR or statutory laws is to safeguard the autonomy by putting this entire hawala channel on the table. This is the reason, although many reports were exposed for decades, no action was taken under the pretext of autonomy to safeguard them against public enquiry. Only a few trustees have changed, whereas many benami properties and trusts are now “shown” to be a part of Auroville, while the corrupt trustees with their hands in Auroville International are still in the same positions. Past economic offenders have removed their investments from Auroville and transferred them to off-shore accounts while unutilised funds are used to make more coffee shops and schools. Basically, it is a transfer of power, and past crimes are given a goodbye without any consequences.
The Court Cases & Incidents
After our Public Interest Litigation filed in Madras High Court bearing WP 5961/2020, the enquiry committee report was kept on a cold shelf while the Auroville Committee made a cover-up report called “Light for All”. The Union Government is yet to file counter-affidavits for the case which is pending for long, while the Government started to implement the Masterplan, the Crown Road being the first phase. This saw many cases filed by groups in Auroville against the Auroville Foundation and accusations against the Secretary flooded the media. Seeing the distress, Vikram Ramakrishnan ( petitioner in the PIL & editor of the Auroville Files ) party in person, requested the Honourable Lordship to tag the PIL along with the case filed with regards to administrative changes and implementation. The moment our PIL was tagged along, no more cases were filed by the Auroville lobby, in fact, Namrata Gautier ( wife of Francois Gautier ) also withdrew her case filed on the FAMC. Our case is about an “unbiased” investigation of all economic offenders, which includes all group members. While the Union Government is rapid to make enquiries on the Secretary based on a quack architect’s report, it has kept the Enquiry Committee Report 2019 on a cold shelf and delaying matters in court as well. Further, the Under Secretary who has his hands on many economic and land offences has been suspended, without any criminal charges, and his retirement is due soon.
The Auroville Media
After the failed narratives of the Auroville Stand for Unity, and seeing the documents right on their face by the Auroville Files, they have decided not to attack the current groups but to “work together” in the name of human unity. Now they will show how the Masterplan was transformed into whatever is left of it to the ‘closest’ representation to it!
Everyone has been fooled, the Aurovilians and public officers who fought for the dream and gave support to the lobbies are used and abused, while the Hawala channel continues to flourish in the name of human unity. Auroville is a place of 2000 odd people, which is conducive for the rich to retire, ex-IAS officers, international corruption, and no law. Bureaucrats who conform to the system join them, the ones who fight for truth and follow the law need to face the wrath of the working groups, embassies, and lobbies from Delhi.
The hijacked dream is being hijacked again, let us hope there is a true change, as the world is watching.
